Purpose
To effectively manage all departmental issues to ensure optimum operational performance.
Job Accountabilities
1. To provide direction and support to the Managers, managing and facilitating their performance and development.
2. To actively promote a safety culture and ensure that all Health & Safety requirements in the department are met.
3. To take full ownership of Product Quality in the department.
4. To facilitate and support the implementation of relevant systems in order to control costs. 5. To co-ordinate the control of variances to achieve Departmental / Company targets.
6. To ensure that daily / weekly plans for the department are achieved.
7. To ensure that a high standard of hygiene and housekeeping are maintained.
8. To facilitate the smooth transfer of products from NPD to Production.
9. To ensure that all Company rules and procedures are adhered to and issues are dealt with fairly, promptly and consistently.
10. To further develop positive working relationships with the Customer.
11. To ensure that the department is adequately resourced at all times, planning ahead for peak periods.
12. To promote the vision, values and standards of the business
13. To carry out ad-hoc projects as and when required.
Key Performance Indicators
1. To provide direction and support to Managers, managing and facilitating their performance and development. ? Training and development needs identified and addressed ? PDM?s carried out at least annually ? Coaching Managers to continuously improve performance
2. To actively promote a safety culture and ensure that all Health & Safety requirements in the department are met. ? Compliance with H+SAW Act (1974) to ensure the safety of yourself and all others operating under your control. ? Conformance to Safe Systems of Work, Risk Assessments, procedures and training ? Correct accident reporting and investigation procedure complied with and delivery of Accident Reduction Plans ? Regular audits / follow up carried out
3. To take full ownership of Product Quality in the department. ? Adherence to GMP?s / product specifications ? Completion of departmental paperwork ? Regular attendance at taste panels by self / others ? Quality / micro issues communicated / action taken
4. To facilitate and support the implementation of relevant systems in order to control costs. ? Implementation of systems ? Provision of relevant information
5. To co-ordinate the control of variances to achieve Departmental / Company targets. ? To control material yields and variance to ensure these stay within budgeted levels ? To provide feedback on performance on a regular basis via weekly Team Brief
6. To ensure that daily / weekly plans for the department are achieved. ? Through Manager?s to attain required output as indicated on Daily Production Plan ? To ensure that labour / equipment is effectively planned and controlled
7. To ensure that high standards of hygiene and housekeeping are maintained. ? To ensure that your area is ?customer ready? at all times
8. To facilitate the smooth transfer of products from NPD to Production. ? Work with NPD / Process Development to critically review all new processes / products ? Ensure that Managers & Team Leaders have input into factory trials
9. To ensure that all Company rules and procedures are adhered to and issues are dealt with fairly, promptly and consistently. ? To deal with staff issues of grievance, discipline and welfare within the guidelines laid out in the Company?s published procedures
10. To ensure that the department is adequately resourced at all times, planning ahead for peak periods. ? To ensure that establishment is agreed and communicated 3 months ahead ? To ensure adequate skill base within department ?
